Real Oviedo travelled to Gijón today for the first Asturian derby of the campaign. Javi Calleja's side went into Matchday 4 in LaLiga Hypermotion with the aim of getting back to winning ways and providing the Oviedistas with the happiness of a derby victory. The Coach opted for a starting eleven made up of Aarón Escandell, Lucas, Dani Calvo, David Costas, Pomares, Colombatto, Del Moral, Cazorla, Sebas Moyano, Chaira and Alemão.

Following a scare through Otero right from the kick-off, Los Azules had their first chance of the encounter in the 7th minute, when Sebas Moyano headed over the bar from a Chaira cross. The hosts grew to dominate the match as the minutes ticked by, and were awarded a debatable penalty in the 19th minute for a foul by David Costas. Otero converted from the spot. In the 25th minute Chaira tried his luck with a volley from the edge of the box, but his effort was deflected behind for a corner. Real Oviedo looked to respond, but in the 38th minute Cote extended the home team's lead to make it 2-0.

Real Oviedo were brighter after the interval, and they cut the deficit shortly after the break. Chaira made the most of a fine assist from Alemão to make it 2-1, and Javi Calleja's side started to have more of the ball. However, that possession was not converted into chances, and the coach turned to his bench. Following the half-time introductions of Hassan and Lemos, Seoane and Paulino de la Fuente also entered the fray. Campuzano then scored a fine goal to make the score 3-1 in the 76th minute to confirm the result in the Asturian derby.

Real Oviedo will train at El Requexón tomorrow, as preparations begin for the league fixture against Cartagena at the Carlos Tartiere.
